Historically, prescriptions were written instructions to an apothecary listing the materials needed to compound a treatment; the term derives from the Latin recipere (&#8220;take thou&#8221;). Certain drugs are classified as &#8220;legend&#8221; and require a doctor&#8217;s prescription to obtain them, because they are considered to be potentially harmful if used incorrectly or by someone not trained in their administration.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Before you get a prescription, make sure you have a list of all the questions you want to ask the doctor, such as: the name and dosage method of the medicine, how often it is to be taken, what disease it treats, any side effects to expect, and when to take it. If you are prescribed medication, remember to take it exactly as directed, even if you feel better.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Can I get a prescription from a doctor now after hours?<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You can get a prescription for most medications in Australia from any qualified medical professional who has your health care insurance coverage and a current PBS prescription drug card, including doctors who have a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement (RHCA) with the Republic of Ireland and New Zealand.
